Final Blog Reflictions

Blog Post #10 http://collinwilliams6.blogspot.com/2014/02/the-mood-in-catching-fire-so-far.html I think this post best shows my abilities to analyze complex characters in the book. I also think that blog post shows how I understand the author throughout the book and use context clues to help me figure out the moral of the chapter also give me a brief summery, because if you understand the book well enough to know what each character is feeling and why they portray that emotion then your going to know other things too like the theme, setting, tone,  and what you think the character is going to do next.

The goals I have for my blog next trimester is too keep it updated, i know some of the teachers will not ask you to do blogs so therefore it makes it hard to remember to update your blog every week. Next trimester I hope to continue my new writing style instead of brief summaries of each chapter I read. Some areas of improvement i can focus on is quoting from the book so I have factual evidence in my blog. Areas of writing I focus to improve on is just to get better at those specific areas instead of the summaries of each chapter.

The Mood in Catching Fire So Far

The Mood is pretty consistant throught the beguinning of the book. Not much surpirses that would change the Mood of the story, besides snow giving her a visit in her house, that changed the mood a little bit but I wouldn't be surprised not to see any actions made by the characters because of snow in her house. When they board the train the mood is about the same as the beginning of the book.

The only real changes in the tone is when Katniss speaks freely about what happened to Rue and does not follow the speech card they gave them. Also the mood changes dramatically when there is a sign of rebellion against the government and that person is publicly executed in front of everyone.

Setting in Catching Fire

So far the setting has been moving around a lot in the story, first they are at the woods. Katniss is at the house to see snow in her home. After that the setting changes to Peeta and Katniss getting on the train for a long ride. After the are in the train the setting changes again to Peeta's room where Katniss goes throughout the train ride for comfort from Peeta.

Throughout the train ride the setting changes to every district meaning they stop at every district ( to give a speech and to give thanks). So overall I think the story has not reached any climax yet becuase the story has not yet found a consistant setting.

My Opinions on Catching Fire so far

So far catching fire has been pretty serious and striaght forward but what i dont understand why dosnt katniss just follow the rules. I mean you could start a rebellion but you would have to have everyone is every district in on the rebellion. Other than that katniss doesnt need to go over the edge with her speechs to other districts, they can tell just by her facial expressions how much she cares.

Also im not sure where katniss feelings stand for Peeta or Gale why cant she just choose one,  she likes gale but then she always goes back to Peeta for comfort like seriously

Catching Fire Capter 5

In the last chapter one guy raises 3 fingers, but after he raises 3 fingers he whistles the mocking bird theme from a signal Rue had made up in the first book. After he did it 2 more joined in, then 4, then 8, then everyone! At that time Haymitch drags Katniss and Peeta into the train, but not in time, only to see the old man get shot on stage point blank. After the first shot ten more followed. To end the chapter Katniss and Peeta are both confused on what had just happened, but they continue to go on to 8 more districts.

Catching Fire Chapter 4

Going back to what happened last chapter they are entering the train. In the train Katniss and Peeta are given speeches that they are supposed to say at each of the 12 districts. In the train Peeta addresses Katniss about his feelings for her but Katniss can hardly look at him. Soon they arrive at district 11 but Katniss is too afraid to speak so she asks Peeta to say her speech too.

Peeta addressing Rue's family and Threshes family (Tributes who helped Katniss in book one) while addressing the families Peeta shocks everyone by saying he will give a small portion of his earnings to each of the families forever. Just the sight of Rue's family makes Katniss join in. Not having any card to go by, she speaks by her heart. She addresses both families for her thanks but addresses Rue's family personally by talking about all the special times they had together and the relationship they had.
But out of the blue a old man raises 3 fingers to the sky.

Catching Fire Chapter 3

When snow leaves the house Katniss knows she can not speak of this to anyone. After snow leaves Katniss has a short time to relax, you know take a bath, short nap, and all that. But Katniss can't really relax after what had just happened with snow. Instead she stresses for her loved ones and her friends.

In a few Katniss's design team shows up at their front door ready to prepare Katniss for the Victors Tour. After Katniss is all dressed up she leaves the house to meet Peeta across the street for a passionate fake kiss. Then Off To The Train They Go.

Catching Fire Chapter 2

After Snow appears in Katniss's house Snow agrees to have a straight forward conversation with her. Snow tells her he knows that Peeta and her are not in loved and that some others did not think so either, instead they saw it as an act of rebellion. But Katniss still reasuring herself with the fact that snow does not care about the country, even though he is acting like he does.

Katniss knows that the only reason he is at her house is to stop any rebellious acts. After that he threatens her, with the fact that he can kill everyone that she ever loved. Then he leaves but tells Katniss first that he knows about her and Gale.
